PS4 Games with Sony Phones & Tablets
For all those looking to play PS4 without really turning on the console, here’s some good news. Sony is enabling remote play of PS4 games on Sony handsets and tablets like the Sony Xperia Z3. The development isn’t entirely new; we had Sony announcing that you could play your PS4 games on your Vita. But then, the development was restricted to Vita, Sony’s handheld gaming set alone.
You don’t need to be smart to play PS4 games with your Sony handset and tablet. While you do need to understand that not every Sony phone will work to help you play PS4 games, the concept as to how it works is pretty easy. You just need a controller to pair in with your phone. Your phone has Bluetooth, so it really isn’t that difficult. Remote playing PS4 games on your phone is easy – just turn on Sony’s Remote Play option.
How can you start playing?
The feature cannot be found on every phone and Sony Xperia Z3 is one of the few phones to support it along with Vita. The 8-inch Z3 might not be as big as your TV screen but can play your PS4 games well.
All you need to do to connect your phone and tablet to your PS4 is use WiFi. However, you need to remember that you cannot, as of now, pair up your pS4 with your phone using 3G or 4G networks. In some ways, it doesn’t make sense to do that as well. However, you do need to have a good and strong WiFi connection.
While you might miss the adrenaline action of your PS4, you will definitely be engrossed. The gameplay can be a bit difficult though, and you definitely need to use a dual shock controller. Your phone might slip off your hands and it really isn’t easy to make your phone stand upright while you play the games. That’s why you can be better off by buying an optional mount, that Sony is offering to gamers. The mount holds on the phone or tablet to the controller, allowing for easy gameplay.
Where does this take you?
PS4 games are known for their realistic graphics and gameplay. Sony’s move to help people play PS4 games on their Z3 scores on different counts. For one, it helps Sony fans buy the new Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony has been struggling off late. In fact, a few weeks back, Sony announced that it will be stopping the production of its mid-ranged laptop models and concentrate solely on the production of the higher end ones. More importantly, this development will help give Sony an edge over its main competitor, the Xbox One. Sony’s PS4 is one the company’s biggest successes so far and it would surely want to hold on to that. Unlike Microsoft, which had its Windows share slipping to 14% from 100% just a decade ago, Sony wants to keep ensure that more Sony fans keep on glued to everything Sony.
How is it playing Sony PS4 games on a Sony phone or tablet?
The PlayStation 4 enables Remote Play on its own; a reason that you can play the games pretty easily. While Sony did ask developers to take into account Vita’s setup and its additional input mechanisms, except for the small size of the phone or tablet that you have, the gameplay remains nearly the same.
Many wonder where Remote Play was with the PS3. For Sony, Remote Play was an optional feature and something that developers could build on. However, using Remote Play or a similar feature in PS3 would mean that developers would be using up a sizeable portion of the consoles memory and no developer wanted to do that. On the other hand, PS4 offers this feature in built and within the system, developers can only customize the game features keeping in mind that they can be played on Sony tablets and phones. In other words, we don’t have developers worrying about how to make the game work with Remote Play in PS4 but rather of how amazing the gameplay would be with Remote Play.
There’s one catch though. You really cannot play those PS4 games that require the Move, or the motion controller. The reason’s simple, your phone or tablet hardware doesn’t support it.
